The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is a multilateral bank committed to the development of market-oriented economies and the promotion of private and entrepreneurial initiative in more than 30 countries from Morocco to Mongolia and from Estonia to Egypt. The Bank is owned by 65 countries, the EU and the EIB.

As part of its mandate to transition towards a green economy, the EBRD invests in climate change mitigation and resilience projects, helping to create self-sustaining markets for green – environmentally benign and high performing – technologies and services. The EBRD has continued to increase the share of green economy financing in its annual business volume, from 15% in 2006 to 33% in 2016. The EBRD has set an ambitious 40% annual target for green economy financing by 2020.
